Rebecca Hindman moved to Austin in 2006 and has served this community with acupuncture ever since. She became interested in holistic forms of medicine while studying abroad in Nepal in 1997. At that time she became ill and out of curiosity decided to consult with a Tibetan doctor who treated her with Tibetan Medicine. The doctor prescribed an herbal formula that was wrapped in brown paper and looked and smelled of a dubious nature. Rebecca learned that they were prepared herbal and mineral substances rolled into little balls and hesitatingly took them. She was surprised that not only did the treatment work, but her nagging symptoms were gone within two days.
This experience inspired her to study and pursue eastern medicine, with its gentle approach to improving patients health.
From 2000-2004 she studied at Southwest Acupuncture College where she received a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. In addition to three years of clinical internship, she had the opportunity to practice at two externships. The first was at Longmont United Hospital's oncology clinic and the second was at China Beijing International Acupuncture Training Center where she received hands-on training in a number of Chinese hospitals. Since that time, she's practiced at The Volunteer Clinic in Fontainebleau, France and the Pflugerville Wellness Center north of Austin Texas.
She has trained in the disciplines of Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology and has received certification from the National Certification Committee of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), the highest national standard. At the state level she received a license in acupuncture (L.Ac.) from the Texas Medical Board.
She provides acupuncture to Travis county and is located in central Austin.
